Winter hat...

Ethan's hat finally arrived and I couldn't wait to take some pictures of him! His facial expressions are just so cute! I survived my first week without him and thankfully, it's almost the weekend and all 3 of us will get to spend some quality time together. Ethan is exactly three months old today!

Chubby little boy...

These pictures really make Ethan look chubby, but I think it's because he is slouched. I just love his arm and leg rolls and will miss then when he grows taller and slims down. Here he is sitting upright with Daddy after being fed and getting undressed for his bath.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling...

Ethan is having fun rolling again. He did it a few times in the beginning and then started crying every time we did tummy time. Now, he is back to tolerating it and seems to be happier when he finding out that he can roll over. I've tried capturing it on video, but so far we just have before and after pictures (like these).

Mommy & Ethan...

I am so thankful that I was able to take 12 weeks off to be with Ethan. I definitely think we've established much more of a routine from 6-12 weeks and it has been amazing watching him grow during that time period. I might not have gotten to see him smile or roll over for the first time, and I want to be there for those moments as much as possible. Luckily, we've worked out a schedule where Pat or I will be able to care for him on Monday & Friday - I'm hoping this is the best of both worlds. Ethan and I attempted to take some photos this afternoon, but he sure is a squirmy little boy! He looks a little scared, lol...

Hooded!

Ethan loves to sleep with his eyes covered. He usually raises his hands until the blanket is partially covering his face. Today, while napping he wiggled down until his hood was over his face. Removing the pacifier while it's touching his face wakes him up every time, so here was his napping stance for this afternoon:

Clothing lessons learned...

There are a few lessons that I'm learning about Ethan's clothing.

1.) Although adorable, baby shoes are useless. Seriously, how in the world do they expect you to jam their foot in? I've tried twice with no success, so the 10 or so pairs I have will never get used (at least they all came from yard sales!).

2.) T-shirts & shorts on a baby will always ride up and expose their belly. I found lots of really cute sets when I was pregnant and just loved the idea of these over onesies; now I know why onesies and one-piece outfits are so popular. I think he has worn the t-shirts long enough for some photos (see below :) ).

3. Good luck in predicting sizes with the correct season to buy ahead. Even sizing among the same brand doesn't seem to be consistent. Last week, he wore a pair of NB pajamas, 0-3 month outfit, and 3-6 month onesie... hmmm. Some stuff is way too wide, but most seems too short.

Ethan is now up to 12 1/2 pounds and is exactly at the 50 percentile for height and weight. He'll be 3 months old in 10 short days! Back to work for me...

Love chewing on the fists...

I think Ethan is determined to start sucking his thumb! In the last few days, he has started putting his fists in his mouth at any occasion. I can also tell he is starting to rotate them, so he is sucking his thumb instead of the whole hand. Uh oh...

Warm & cozy in a hoodie...

It's chilly outside today (60 degrees), so Ethan and I decided to stay warm with hoodies. I'm just a little obsessed with taking photos and documenting all of his "firsts", so today he wore his first hoodie! I think the hood tickles his head a bit, because he smiles when I pull it up. I just can't get over how cute he is! :)

I love to sit up...

This was Ethan's first time using the Bumbo chair and he loved it. Now he can gaze at the paintings behind our couch at a whole new angle (that's what he is looking at in this picture). He is still a bit small for the chair, so we put a pillow behind his head for support. He kept wiggling his toes around checking out the texture of the foam chair. We read a book while he was in the Bumbo yesterday. I thought he'd be more interested since he can see the pictures, but the ceiling fan caught his eye (books are no competition for the fan!).

1st Cooking Lesson...

Ethan experienced two "firsts" on Friday - he used his new high chair and got a cooking lesson! Daddy was busy doing homework and I needed to get some stuff done, so Ethan sat on the kitchen counter in his chair while I made fajitas. I talked him through every step and he watched and listened intently for almost an hour! He really likes sitting up and looking around at his surroundings. I have a feeling the bumbo and highchair are going to be getting a lot of use at our house.

Once upon a lime...

These pictures of Ethan and the limes will be a great memory in our scrapbook. For those that don't know the story, Ethan was the size of a lime when my Grandma passed away on December 23rd. She was so excited about the pregnancy and while in the hospital, patted my stomach and asked about the baby's size. Her obituary read, "She leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a 'lime'". Although Grandma didn't get to see him born, we know that she would've loved seeing him grow up! We miss her so much!!

Texas Longhorn PJs...

For all of you longhorn fans, here is Ethan in his TX pajamas from Uncle Marc and Aunt Kristeen. He was all cozy and happy after his bath. Coming up soon, a photo op with Aggie & Longhorn socks from Aunt Jackie...

Rolling over...

One morning a few days ago (Aug 26th), Ethan decided he wanted to take a roll! I laid him on his stomach on the couch to do some tummy time and he kicked and kicked his legs, until he propelled enough to push himself on his side. Then he kicked some more until he fell on his back. I thought it was a fluke, so I got Pat and we tried again - same thing, but the second time was more of a fluid roll. He looked a little surprised at himself when I snapped this picture and then started smiling real big, like he was proud of what he accomplished. Since the couch gives a little, he seems to be able to get a better grip with his feet. We've tried on the floor a few times since then, but he despises tummy time now and gets frustrated. Hopefully he will soon master the skill of rolling over!

Loving his daddy!

Ethan is definitely a daddy's boy! He smiles when Pat walks into the room and instantly calms down when he is holding him. I've loved watching my husband turn into a father, and a great one at that!!

Enjoying a warm bath...

Ethan loves bath time! We started giving him a bath every night, just so he could relax in the warm water. Here he is getting soaped up and putting on his PJs. He is all smiles afterwards and even loves to get his hair combed.
